Development of a platform for connecting patients and psychologists

Aura is a project by the HCM Patient Foundation and aims to provide free psychological support for patients with HCM.

Our Task:

The HCM Patient Foundation assigned us the unusual task of creating a platform through which the foundation could provide free psychological support for patients with HCM. The platform had to combine an online portal, a system for users to book appointments, and the ability to create online meetings through which the psychologist–patient session could take place. The system had to be lightweight and easy to use for both patients and psychologists. Another requirement was to provide a user‑friendly mobile interface for situations where both patient and psychologist might use the system on their mobile devices.

Implementation and functionality:

For content management we used WordPress as a base, with functionalities being a mix of several solutions, including ones developed by our team. Here are some of the main functional elements:

  • Creation of a web page for the portal

  • Modern responsive design aligned with the corporate vision, including a dedicated mobile version

  • Integration of an application form for requesting assistance through the system

  • Segmentation of users and the platform elements they have access to

  • Integration of a reservation management system with interfaces for patients and psychologists

  • Integration of online meetings based on Google Meet

  • Creation of dynamic guides for users (patients and psychologists)

  • Creation of a notification system for creation, modification, or cancelation of reservations

  • Organization of hour quotas available to each user

  • Protection of the system from unauthorized access

  • Content anonymization and data protection

Results:

The system is now online and the first patients have already received their free psychological support sessions. Project “Aura” met all expectations of the HCM Patient Foundation. Perhaps the best evaluation for us were the extremely positive reviews from the psychologists and patients who use the system.
